Cravens Field:
The home of Lamar High School football is Cravens Field, located on the LHS campus at 1400 W. Lamar Boulevard in Arlington. Through the 2006 season, Cravens had a natural grass field, but an artificial surface was installed in time for the fall of 2007. The stadium design is simple and there are only 8500 seats. But the tradition and history of Lamar football makes Cravens a special place. Former players, please e-mail your memories of Cravens Field to Chris Mycoskie. Selected responses will be used on this page. Be sure to include your name, position and year of graduation from LHS. Memories: My memories of Cravens started long before I ever played on the field, which I think is true for most players. I grew up idolizing the players of all those teams that came before my years as a Viking. Since my Dad volunteered as the team doctor and my Mom as team photographer, I got a chance to grow up within the atmosphere of Cravens, not just watching games from the stands. I would stand on the sidelines among the players and listen to Coach Peach during his pre-game, halftime, and post-game speeches. Having this experience before even playing for Lamar, I can say that Cravens Field is special to us because we not only played on it, but we dreamed of playing on it since Optimist football. --
