 Nick Cooper runs the ball hard into the line like a typical Lamar back. Tracy Smith runs the same deep routes he ran for former coach Eddy Peach, the father of Lamar football.
But other things have changed. Will Boyette throws more than previous Lamar quarterbacks. The Vikings send more receivers in pass patterns now. They spread the field.

 The second Arlington Lamar coach wrapped up his first victory with a signature play from the first Lamar coach: the quarterback bootleg.
Will Boyette took a naked keeper away from the flow for a 9-yard gain and a first down that let the Vikings run out the clock in a 28-21 victory against Mansfield Timberview, giving new coach Trent Fuller his first victory Friday night.

Lamar football coach Trent Fuller sipped a Gatorade and bantered with
players as they filed off the field after a recent afternoon practice.
The first-year head coach checked up on several players' nagging aches
and injuries and directed words of encouragement and the occasional
light-hearted wisecrack at the rest of the squad.
