txnation.jpgA pair of Lamar graduates are ready to be teammates again, this time for a college all-star game. SMU standout Ben Poynter will be joined by Louisiana-Monroe's Adam Hill on the Lone Star State offensive line in the Texas vs. The Nation Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008. The game, which pits top collegiate seniors who went to high school or college in Texas against top seniors from around the nation, will be held at Sun Bowl Stadium.

Cantly Set to Join Mean Green

north_texas.gifLamar High School offensive lineman Tevin Cantly has given his verbal commitment to the University of North Texas. He'll join Todd Dodge's Mean Green football team this fall. Cantly and other Vikes who have committed to college programs will make their plans official on national signing day, which falls on February 6th.

Steele Commits to Colorado State

colorado_st.gifLamar cornerback Byron Steele verbally committed to attend Colorado State University, where he'll play football for the Rams of the Mountain West Conference. The 6'4", 210 pound Steele earned first team all-district honors following his senior season with the Vikings.
 
Spence Commits to Louisiana Tech

Lamar's Hill Among 10 All-Conference Warhawks

ulmshield.jpgULM running back Calvin Dawson, offensive lineman Kyle Cunningham and punter Scott Love all received first team honors.  Tight end Zeek Zacharie, center Adam Hill, defensive tackle David Cooper, linebacker Cardia Jackson and safety Greg James all earned second team honors.
