Arlington Lamar running back Ja’Terian Douglas has an understanding with his offensive line. "Just give me a little cushion, and I’ll get it there," he has told his teammates. "There" refers to the end zone, a place Douglas reached six times Friday in leading the Vikings to a 56-27 victory against Arlington Sam Houston in a District 4-5A game at Cravens Field.

For the second time in three years, a Lamar graduate is a captain for the SMU football team. Former Viking Chase Kennemer earned that honor from his Mustang teammates this season, this after Ben Poynter held the post in 2007. Kennemer opened the college football season in a big way, with 10 solo tackles against Stephen F. Austin and 11 against Alabama-Birmingham. This Saturday, SMU visits Washington State. |
