ARLINGTON ISD – WEEK FOUR PREVIEW

Keller Central Chargers (2-1) at Sam Houston Texans (2-1)
7 p.m. Friday, Wilemon Field
THE SERIES: This will be the first meeting between the Chargers and the Texans.
LAST WEEK: The Texans ran their winning streak to two, after stopping Dallas Skyline, 29-21. Keller Central absorbed a 41-14 beating from Flower Mound Marcus. The Chargers had previously stopped Birdville, 42-13 and Wylie, 37-14.
STREAKING: A win this week would provide Sam Houston’s first three-game winning streak since October 2014. The Texans defeated Fort Worth Paschal, Weatherford and North Crowley in successive weeks that year.

Martin Warriors (2-1) at Southlake Carroll Dragons (3-0)
7 p.m. Friday, Dragon Stadium
THE SERIES: The Dragons lead the series, 4-1, and have actually beaten Martin at four different stadiums, including Dragon Stadium.
LAST WEEK: Martin equaled a school record last week by overcoming an 18-point deficit to defeat Midland Legacy, 43-37. The Warriors had also overcome an 18-point deficit to win over Bowie, 35-31, in 1994. Carroll remained unbeaten after blanking Prosper, 31-0. The Dragons also own wins over Highland Park and Rockwall Heath.

Southlake Carroll leads the series, 4-1

 

Mesquite Skeeters (1-2) vs. Arlington Colts (1-2)
7 p.m. Friday, Choctaw Stadium (Globe Life Park)
THE SERIES: The Colts lead the series, 1-0-1, although the teams haven’t played since 1950.
LAST WEEK: Arlington fell to 1-2 after being outscored by Keller Fossil Ridge, 49-42. Mesquite improved to 1-2 after beating Grand Prairie, 21-14. The Skeeters opened the season with a 30-14 loss to Flower Mound, and a 28-10 loss to South Grand Prairie.

Bowie Volunteers (1-2) at Midland Legacy Rebels (2-1)
7 p.m. Friday, Midland’s GrandeCom Communications Stadium
THE SERIES: This will be the first meeting between the Volunteers and the Rebels.
LAST WEEK: Bowie picked up its first win of the season after spilling Mesquite Horn, 24-17, while Midland Legacy was outscored by Martin, 43-37. Legacy opened the season with wins over Amarillo, 37-7, and Amarillo Tascosa, 51-48.

Prosper Eagles (2-1) vs. Lamar Vikings (0-3)
7 p.m. Friday, Cravens Field
THE SERIES: This will be the first meeting between the Vikings and the Eagles.
LAST WEEK: Lamar fell to Lewisville, 42-17, falling to 0-3 for the first time since 2011. Prosper fell from the ranks of the unbeaten, losing to Southlake Carroll, 31-0. The Eagles also have wins over South Grand Prairie (34-19) and Mansfield Lake Ridge (63-7).

Juan Seguin Cougars (1-1) at Cleburne Yellowjackets (2-1)
7 p.m. Friday, Cleburne’s Yellowjacket Stadium
THE SERIES: The Cougars lead the series, 5-1, and have won two of the three games at Yellowjacket Stadium, a.k.a. The Old Stone Fort.
LAST WEEK: The Cougars had last week’s game against Wilmer-Hutchins canceled, while Cleburne outlasted Weatherford, 54-48. The Yellowjackets also own a 43-42 win over Houston Heights, and a 42-34 loss to Dallas Carter.
